Sterling Silver Cufflinks and Tuxedo Ensembles: How To Dress For Formal Events - ONE BOND STREET

Handsome, suave and iconically dapper, whether in ‘Casino Royale’ or ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’, “Gold finger’ or ‘Dr No’, James Bond is the quintessential British gentleman and the very pinnacle of effortless sophistication. Garbed in impeccable suits and always driving luxurious cars, he is the envy of all and simply oozes urbanity and charm. But where would the enviable secret service agent be without his prized sterling silver cufflinks?

When casting one’s mind to the debonair agent, sterling silver cufflinks, like those sold by One Bond Street, may not be the first thing that come to mind. Indeed, aside from lavish attire and exclusive cars, it is, of course, martini cocktails – shaken not stirred – that we most associate with 007. But picture Daniel Craig, Pierce Brosnan or Sean Connery, whether in an action scene, or a more tranquil setting, and it will soon become clear that, regardless of actor, it is very rare to catch even a glimpse of James Bond without a stylish set of sterling silver cufflinks adorning his shirt sleeves.

It is, perhaps, unsurprising that Bond’s penchant for sterling silver cufflinks doesn’t stick out greatly in the imagination. Not just because there is so much enthralling action and so many intense fight scenes to be captivated by, but because the beauty of a sophisticated pair of sterling silver cufflinks is that whilst stylish and modish, they are also understated and, thus, do not take too much attention away from the rest of a gentleman’s image – secret agent or otherwise.

This is not to suggest that Bond’s tasteful sterling silver cufflinks, like those sold by One Bond Street, are not an integral part of his guise; quite the opposite, in fact, they provide the perfect finish to his distinguished and polished exterior. As they are small, elegant and classy, however, his sterling silver fasteners complete his attractive and refined aesthetic without the slightest hint of garishness - making it easy for them to go unnoticed.

Without his impeccable sterling silver cufflinks, I’m certain that Bond’s cultivated and dapper image would be left lacking, incomplete. With his shirt sleeves adorned by stylish cufflinks, however, he is the most shining example of a refined and classic British gent; perfectly robed to the very last detail.

Perhaps every refined gentleman, seeking to retain a debonair and cultivated image, could learn a thing or two from the secret agent’s penchant for sterling silver cufflinks. Whatever the occasion, it seems adoring one’s shirt sleeves with a set of elegant sterling silver cufflinks offers the perfect route to a distinguished, refined and polished exterior – one that even Bond, himself, would be envious of!
